How do I transfer this new Gold Number onto my Network?
The process is called 'Porting', and to do this you request a
Port Access Code (PAC).
When you receive your Gold Number SIM pack, just call that
Network Provider and register your details to the number, and top up the number
to activate it.
Should you want to use your new Gold Number with your
existing network, just request the Port Access Code during the same phone call,
then pass it on to your existing service provider.
Your old number will be replaced with the new number within
days.
One last note: please remember to
top-up your new number with at least the minimum amount (£5 / £10) and make a
chargeable call or send a text. Your new number will
receive calls without the top-up, but it will not be properly activated by the
network and will be de-activated without notice - meaning you have lost the
number and cannot get it back.
Is there a fee for the PAC code?
No,
transferring numbers between networks is free of charge.
UPDATE: Please note: Vodafone may make
a transfer charge if you are currently on a contract. Please contact
them directly to check your status.
Can I
use my new number on PAYG or only on monthly contract?
You can
use your Gold Number on any network or tariff of your choice; either
PAYG or on pay monthly contract, with any UK mobile service provider,
e.g. Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Virgin, O2, 3G, Tesco Mobile, Fresh
etc.
